New media and pop culture make emergency management hip and compelling

Integrating new media and pop-culture with public safety the City of San Fransisco Department of Emergency Management has launched an innovative website to help citizens prepare to survive the first 72hours or a large scale emergency caused by human actions or natural disaster.  The site's image-driven interface informs citizens on simple steps to take to help prepare against disasters such as tsunamis, earth quakes, fires, contagious outbreaks, and terror attacks.  It is part of the city's unified Emergency Response Plan.
