Setting a standard for service learning across the Americas

The Ibero-American Service Learning Network leads the way in capitalizing on increasing global attention to civic education and the increased technological capacity for people to work together across great distances.  Since 2005, the Network's work represents a genuine step forward in international partnerships for the purpose of shared learning on matters of civic engagement, by building connections between institutions and initiatives in Europe, Latin America, the Carribean, and the United States.  At regular conferences and through the efficient use of technology, members of the network explore the best ways to incorporate community service with education and promote its development in new places and populations.

Their Description:

Founded in Buenos Aires on October, 29, 2005, the Net gathers 31 NGOs, government agencies, Universities and regional organizations from Latin America, the United States and Spain.

CLAYSS (Centro Latinoamericano de Aprendizaje y Servicio Solidario, Argentina) and NYLC (National Youth Leadership Council, USA) are leading this joint effort to promote service-learning with a Panamerican push.

General Notes:

This is a really great organization!  I attended a huge conference they sponsored in Argentina in 2007 while I studied abroad there, and they are really promoting connections in innovative ways.
