Noteworthy: 

Vinalhaven wind power is Maine's first island wind-power project.

The Fox islands project is the largest coastal wind power facility in New England.
It is also the second largest facility along the East coast of the United States.

Impact: 

Vinalhaven wind power has enough electricity to power 1,500 homes

Future Plans: 

The future plan is to be able to use some some of the wind energy produced from the turbines to to charge the thermal storage heaters on the island.

History: 

Fox Island's interest in developing wind as a source of energy began in 2001.

Funding: 

The total funding for the project is about $15 million.
